Go Inside!

I Saw this yesterday and froze, it brought me to tears again. This is happening every day, and I can’t help wondering what community it would take, maybe actors, lawyers, teachers, I know police and medical workers already have elevated suicide rates but what community would it take? who must kill themselves before the country begins to care? Treat it like it’s the national emergency that it is.
These lives, taken for no reason, its preventable. I have heard so many numbers, I have heard numbers as high as 22 Veterans a day, one is too many!
According to the VA’s 2024 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report, in 2022, an average of 17.6 veterans died by suicide each day, totaling 6,407 veteran suicides that year. This is a slight increase from 2021 (6,392 suicides), but the age-adjusted rate for veterans remains 72% higher than for non-veterans.
The post I saw, sorry sidetracked again, says it was posted over a month ago by –cprandcprs
”A Veteran died by suicide outside of a VA hospital yesterday. Supposedly they weren't a VA patient but I have to wonder if it was a protest. It happened outside of the mental health building and staff saw it happen.
I am terrified this is going to become increasingly common.”
Yes, It’s already common. It’s an epidemic but because it’s a silent strong and mostly isolated community. Let’s not forget, we will never forget, Mark in Texas who just committed suicide in Front of the Veterans Administration Hospital. In Loma Linda the Veteran whose name we still don’t know who shot himself in the VA parking lot.
Demographics: Male veterans account for the majority (94% in 2022), with higher rates among younger veterans (under 45, where suicide is the second leading cause of death) and those with mental health or substance use disorders (affecting over 41% of VA-using veterans as of 2020).
I am not superman! You cannot be expected to solve the world’s problems. We have our own problems. We can’t save every veteran or even get more than 20 out of their situation this year but even one, if we could just get one more to quote the Legend Desmond Doss “Please Lord Let me get one more.”

They died in front of the VA, what does that say? Help was there all they had to do was walk inside. Hell, usually there are old vets outside looking to help one another. What does that say, why won’t they go inside, why are they sleeping on the streets with signs saying help, all they have to do is walk inside! How are they addicted to drugs and alcohol all they have to do is walk inside! Go inside!!
About 62% of veterans who died by suicide in 2021 were not recent VA health care users, indicating a significant gap in reaching at-risk veterans. Just/sayin
Sometimes in life, the hardest step is the last one you need to take for help. Maybe they just need someone to guide them, to be there with them when they finally go inside. Join Us help us get them in the door, Life is a life no matter how you save it. We are not Desmond Doss either, but he can be an inspiration for all of us start with 1 work up to 20 this year and watch your Return on Investment in 24 months when it’s 100 or 200 and it can be, this idea can save lives.
Please Lord let US, just get one more, Amen. Thank You Desmond.
Thank You, and may God continue to Bless you.
